what is Sitting the month

In Chinese Medicine, sitting the month refers to the time spent recouperating following giving birth. This period of time is traditionally a forty day period within which it is understood that we are able to not only enable healing for the body-mind post partum, but also enable deeper health robustness.

the significance of post-partum

I have been working with the body for over twelve years. During that time, I have been a director of an integrative healthcare clinic in Oxford and working with patients as an Acupuncturist and Craniosacral therapist. I am also a mother and work with women as they prepare for and enter into motherhood.

The work I have been engaged in alongside my personal experience of motherhood has brought me to work with the post-partum time with an adjusted lens. The post-partum time is such a significant time in Chinese Medicine. It is marked as time for recuperation in order that we not only heal well from birth but also take care of any other underlying imbalances that this time of readiness-to-change can also enable.
